How to Choose the Right Water Gate Valve?

How to Choose the Right Water Gate Valve?

What is valve?

Gas and water flow through pipes just like electricity flows through wires. A valve is an object that can control the flow in a pipe. It works the same way as a switch. There are many different kinds of valves, each with its own use and purpose. You need to know how to use them correctly when you need to. Click Gate Valve Malaysia for more information.

Valve Types and How to Choose Them

There are many different kinds of valves, each with its own way of being turned on and off.

Choose by the type of valve

In general, valves are grouped by how they control the flow of the fluid (a fluid is a substance that can move and doesn’t resist deformation when pressed) in the pipe.

– Ball Valve

The ball with the hole is connected directly to the valve handle. Inside the ball is a ball mechanism that also turns when the valve is turned. Fluid will flow when the perforated surface is in a straight line or parallel to the pipe. If the valve is turned to the side, the flow will be stopped.

– Global Valve

The valve has a two-layer mechanism inside, and the fluid is controlled by moving the conical valve up and down. Even though the mechanism makes the resistance (the ability of a material to block or stop the flow) high, the flow rate can be changed and the torques needed to open and close the valve are high.

– Gate Valve

This type controls the flow by shutting off or opening it up by lifting the vertically positioned rectangular closing gate. This gate valve can’t be used to change how fast a fluid flows by opening only half or a quarter of the way because the “gate” position must be fully open (fully open or fully closed).

– Butterfly Valve

The flow of fluid is controlled by turning a disc or plate-shaped valve. The flow rate is controlled by the butterfly valve, which changes the space between the pipe and the valve so that it doesn’t leak.

– Needle Valve

If you turn the handle of the valve, the valve will move up and down perpendicularly. This works almost the same as a gate valve, but the flow rate can be changed with the needle valve.

– Check Valve

This valve stops water from going backward. These valves open in one direction but not the other, just like the valves in our blood vessels. This valve is used on pipes that can only flow in one direction.

– Diaphragm Valve

A valve called a diaphragm is used to control the flow of the fluid. The diaphragm is made of either fluorine resin or rubber. This valve is used for fluids that are very fine and don’t leak air. It is not good for use under high pressure, though.

Things To Consider When Choosing Valve

Before you choose a valve, you need to check the following:

– Pressure (Mpa)

– The valve material changes depending on the fluid

– Pipe size
