Ministry of Education Malaysia established the Matriculation Division on 1 September 1998. for the unification of all Matriculation Programmes that were previously managed by local Higher Learning Institutes.
The first Matriculation Programme commence for 1998 school leavers and for the 1999/2000 session.
Beginning of 2000/2001 session, all Matriculation Programmes (with the exception of UIAM and UM centres) were fully managed by Matriculation Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia.
MOE Malaysia’s Matriculation Programme is a preparatory programme (pre-university) for Malaysian ‘Bumiputera’ students to qualify them to Degree Programmes in the fields of Science and Technolgy in both local and overseas universities.
The duration for this pre-university programme is two (2) semesters. The programme’s curriculum focuses on academic aspects without overlooking the co-curriculum aspects.
Students in this programme are trained to achieve academic excellence, leadership qualities and possess admirable qualities.
All of these students follows the same syllabus as well as undergo the same evaluation methods. Selection of students for university programmes are only done after the students have passed their Matriculation Programme.
Medium of Instruction
As of 2004/2005 session all Math, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics Science subjects are taught in English language.
Students of the Matriculation Programme are fully sponsored by the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
